How did you get into the field?

Since a young age, I’ve been curious about our amazing brains. After earning a Bachelor's degree and moving on from a career filled with volleyball, my focus returned to the science of learning and the brain. Since then, my years have been spent growing in understanding the science of learning and reasons underlying mental health dysfunction to support youth in adaptation, independence, and self-esteem.

What is your experience in this field?

My career started in school psychology, working in school districts located in San Diego and Orange County. Opportunities arose to work with youth in Autism programs, school-based mental health and behavior programs, and students placed in residential treatment programs. Additionally, I supported schools serving students with a range of needs and disabilities; including youth and young adults requiring Section 504 and special education plans.

What do you find most meaningful about the work you do?

The best aspect of this work is being part of a solution-focused process that helps my clients to learn about their own uniqueness and how to use these assets to meet their goals.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends; definitely finding time to hike or go to the beach. Whenever possible, I try find a great soccer (“football”) match to watch with family and friends.
